Prime Purpose of Role

 

The Senior Manager of People and Culture, Americas, will collaborate closely with the Head of People and Culture for the Northern Hemisphere and the Head of Business Management & Strategy for the Americas to oversee all People and Culture initiatives for the Perpetual Americas region.

 

Perpetual is a multi-boutique fund manager with a significant presence in the Americas market, housing US boutiques Barrow Hanley Global Investors, J O Hambro Capital Management, Trillium Asset Management, and Thompson, Siegel & Walmsley (TSW).

 

Perpetual offers its boutique investment firms distribution capabilities and support services to empower them in delivering exceptional investment outcomes to clients. In this role, the Senior Manager of People and Culture, Americas, will take the lead in providing operational support for People and Culture functions at J O Hambro Capital Management and Trillium Asset Management, and as required, for other boutiques in the Americas region. This will involve collaboration with global People and Culture subject matter experts and the broader Perpetual Group People and Culture team to ensure effective support and alignment across the group.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

    • Overseeing all PAC-related aspects of the Perpetual Americas team dispersed across the US, ensuring responsibilities are properly delegated to and discharged by direct reports and working closely with PAC SME functions and the Perpetual Group PAC team.
    • Serving as the primary point of contact for all Perpetual Americas employee relations matters and any follow up.
    • In conjunction with the Perpetual talent acquisition team, ensure the recruitment processes enable Perpetual America to recruit the right quality of staff in a cost-effective manner and in accordance with its legal obligations.
    • Coordinate effective learning and development program for Perpetual Americas staff to meet both corporate and personal objectives.
    • Manage the performance management and remuneration processes for Perpetual Americas staff, working with the Performance and Reward team and wider PAC team across the Perpetual Group.
    • Managing all succession planning activity for the region
    • Establishing and maintaining sustainable relationships with key personnel and external parties including  representing the firm to clients and external third parties with respect to PAC matters.
    • Working with the Benefits Manager - Americas,  deliver an effective Americas benefits program ensuring market relevance through regular market-testing.
    • Maintaining an effective network of professional advisors that can assist in the development of Americas employment related policies and processes and coordinate with the Global Performance and Rewards team to undertake market reviews to ensure the company remains market competitive.
    • Along with the Head of People and Culture, Northern Hemisphere, ensuring the PAC Americas team is effectively resourced to meet corporate objectives.
    • Set annual measurable goals for direct reports and evaluating and managing their performance and competence in the achievement of their performance objectives.
    • Take an active role and may be required to lead on global PAC related projects.
    • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal, regulatory, jurisdictional and investment requirements, anticipating and supporting the firm to respond to any changes.

 

  • Risk Management and Compliance:

 

    • Establish (where needed), implement, communicate and maintain policies and procedures for the effective performance of the PAC Americas function.
    • Ensures Perpetual Americas operates and is compliant with the employment regulations and laws of the relevant jurisdictions with which it operates.
    • Contributes from a PAC perspective to the planning and development of the Perpetual Americas Risk Management Framework and policy statements.

 

Key Skills

 

  • Demonstrable generalist human resource experience, preferably within financial services;
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, ideally with experience working in a matrixed, geographically dispersed global company;
  • Desire to operate at both a strategic and operational level;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and meet deadlines;
  • Solid understanding of US state and federal employment law;
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence;
  • Excellent attention to detail.
