Summary

 

NG Bailey are proud to be involved in the Hinkley Point C project based in Bridgwater, Somerset.  This is the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain providing zero-carbon electricity for around six million homes. NG Bailey, the UK’s leading independent engineering and services business, are proud to be part of the MEH Alliance, a joint venture to deliver the mechanical, electrical and HVAC installation for the project.

 

As part of recent growth on this project, we have a new vacancy for an electrical project engineer to join us on the MEH alliance in the position of Labelling Engineer.  The holder of this post will play a key part in the team producing and applying nearly 1 million labels to cabling, terminations and cabling containment items across the project.

 

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:

 

  • To be the MEH JV site label production expert for permanent equipment. 
  • To ensure installation team receives labels on timely manner and be able to complete the task as per the programme. 
  • Attend coordination meeting where possible to understand the needs of the installation team. 
  • Liaise with CMPIC team and retrieve required data as per the programme. 
  • Interpret data and verify against the asset code (as per the defined procedure and / or ITP) 
  • Develop or Alter Template as defined in the procedure or meet site installation requirements. 
  • Print High Quality Labels as per the data base from CMPIC. Ensure all labels comply with the requirements set out by the MEHA JV Labelling Quality Team in the inspection test plan. 
  • Bundle Printed labels to suit installation sequence. 
  • Rectify errors in the labels and reprint where necessary. Make sure error do not impact progress with installation team. 
  • Provide accurate performance and progress information to support the weekly / monthly reporting of MEH JV on site Label production. 
  • Liaise with the relevant procurement and logistics team to replenish consumed materials on timely manner. 
  • Ensure printing machines are maintained properly and cleaned on timely manner. 
  • Ensure adequate spare parts on site and replenish as an when required. 
  • Able to train subordinates on how to print labels and maintain machines. 
  • Accurate interpretation of printing data and issues raise it with Labelling Head 
  • Accurate inspection of labels as defined in inspection and test plan. 
  • Daily site record on printing production and staff activities. 
  • Accurate recording of materials and spares used to produce labels and replenish where required 

  

What we’re looking for:

  • A HNC or above in Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline
  • Substantial experience in a Project Engineer or similar role on major construction projects, with an understanding of labelling processes.
  • Confident user of IT and MS Office Software 
  • Understanding and basic knowledge of database management.
  • Able to open CAD / 3D models and understand layout.

NG Bailey on the Hinkley Point C Project

We are working across both Hinkley Point C units to deliver the infrastructure that will power the station and its operations, creating 1,000 jobs including many specialist engineers. Works include the design and installation of circa 76,000 cables totalling over 3,000km in length; over 180km of cable containment support systems; fire and environmental sealing; design and installation of earthing systems, and specialist packages associated with data acquisition and plant control.
