Summary

 

NG Bailey are proud to be involved in the Hinkley Point C project based in Bridgwater, Somerset.  This is the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain providing zero-carbon electricity for around six million homes. NG Bailey, the UK’s leading independent engineering and services business, are proud to be part of the MEH Alliance, a joint venture to deliver the mechanical, electrical and HVAC installation for the project.

 

As part of recent growth on this project, we have a new vacancy for an experienced Project Engineer to join the MEH Alliance working on the Hinkley Point C construction project in the position of Area Topic Lead - Cable Tray Solutions.

 

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:

 

  • To be the MEH JV topic lead for the local cable tray solutions scope.  
  • To provide safety advice and guidance relating to the installation of the local cable tray. 
  • To develop the MEH JV local cable tray solutions delivery strategy. 
  • To support the building delivery teams to prepare the documentation required for the installation of the local cable tray and associated works. 
  • Liaise with the execution designers, equipment suppliers and EPM team to ensure that the requirements and information is provided as required to support the installation of the local cable tray to in line with the MEH JV installation strategy. 
  • To ensure that “best for project” decisions are implemented for the local cable tray strategy. 
  • To support the development of Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s) for the MEH JV local cable tray solutions. 
  • Ensure the consistent delivery of the local cable tray solutions across all the areas and buildings by providing timely and relevant information to all area and building leads. 
  • Promote and maintain health and safety to support of a positive Nuclear Safety Culture.  
  • Risk management and mitigations strategies. 
  • Support the planning and training of the blue-collar trades required for the scope. 
  • Liaise and coordinate with the execution designers, EPM, and equipment manufacturers to ensure that the full installation requirements are known, and interfaces are identified and resolved. 
  • Liaise with the cable installation team to develop local cable tray solutions for the cables terminating into electrical panels and large equipment. 

 

What we’re looking for:

 

  • Substantial experience in construction project management, specifically cabling related works.
  • A good working knowledge of electrical cable containment installations. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) 
  • Up to date knowledge of workplace / construction Health and Safety 
  • Degree / HND / HNC – Electrical Engineering (or suitable work experience). 
  • Proficient use of IT and MS Office software. 
  • IOSH Managing Safely preferred 
  • CCNSG or HSE MaPs Safety Passport

NG Bailey on the Hinkley Point C Project

We are working across both Hinkley Point C units to deliver the infrastructure that will power the station and its operations, creating 1,000 jobs including many specialist engineers. Works include the design and installation of circa 76,000 cables totalling over 3,000km in length; over 180km of cable containment support systems; fire and environmental sealing; design and installation of earthing systems, and specialist packages associated with data acquisition and plant control.
