We have a vacancy for a Mechanical/Piping Project Engineer to join us on the MEH Alliance as part of the Hinkley Point C construction project.

Accountabilities

  • Supporting the Area Lead to deliver the scope of work with a focus on Piping. 
  • Provide a weekly report on progress and update to programme. 
  • Procon reviews and control of hours 
  • Construction method improvement plans. 
  • Lead and foster a positive Nuclear Safety Culture. 
  • As part of MDT to drive the project to support the safe delivery of the galleries on time, to the right quality to the highest safety standards. 
  • Ensure CWPs are delivered on time to ensure no delays to construction activities. 
  • Ensure all materials and tooling are delivered ready for construction activities 
  • Ensure CEMAR management as required to raise EWNs and support Cost Advice process. 
  • Ensure Configuration Control is maintained across the scope IAW Works Information. 
  • Monitoring compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications. 
  • Raise technical queries and monitoring progress.  
  • Review construction engineering deliverables as issued by the client and ensure the team are working to the latest issue. 

Requirements:

  • A HNC or above in a relevant mechanical discipline and/or substantial experience as a Project Engineer or similar role on large scale construction projects.
  • Expertise in a wide range of piping used on large scale projects of this type
  • Experience in nuclear or other highly regulated sectors.
  • IOSH Managing Safely (preferred). 
  • CCNSG or HSE MaPs Safety Passport 
  • Capable of obtaining security clearance of BPSS or higher. 
  • Professional accreditation (preferred). 
  • AutoCAD and Navis Works knowledge. 
  • APM Project Fundamentals Qualification or higher (preferred). 
  • Knowledge of NEC ECC Contract is desirable.  
  • Experience in working within a Joint Venture or Alliance environment.

NG Bailey on the Hinkley Point C Project

We are working across both Hinkley Point C units to deliver the infrastructure that will power the station and its operations, creating 1,000 jobs including many specialist engineers. Works include the design and installation of circa 76,000 cables totalling over 3,000km in length; over 180km of cable containment support systems; fire and environmental sealing; design and installation of earthing systems, and specialist packages associated with data acquisition and plant control.
