Project Engineer (Gas & Water Connections)
We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer on the MEH Alliance, working on the Hinkley Point C construction project. The main purpose of the role will be to supporting coordination of Non-Permanent requirements for the site wide Gas/Water utility requirements
This is a full-time permanent position based at Hinkley Point C.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver procedures, processes and support reporting to show control and coordination to the scope of works to support the MEH construction activities
- Define boundary of scope of works
- Liaising with necessary SME’s and client counterparts
- Ensuring documents are kept up to date and compliant with latest works information and other MEH documentation with periodic reviews planned and carried out.
- Arrange utility connections
- Oversee switching/isolations/removal
- Ownership and driving of deliverables from conception to A-Accepted status >90% first time accepted criteria
- Provide and demonstrate a positive HSE leadership, building a strong and compliant HS&E culture throughout the whole construction life cycle of the Project.
- Ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site licence requirements
- Review and feedback on suitability of level of resource to effectively run the support function.
Requirements:
- Mechanical/Electrical Engineering qualification or equivalent vocational training and or experience of utility supplies.
- Proven track record of working in a highly regulated sector, preferably in nuclear
- Knowledge and experience in Safe Systems of Work
- Experience working on major construction projects
- Experienced in delivering and operating at Engineer or Senior Engineer level, including experience working within Joint Ventures
- Health and Safety qualification preferred

We are working across both Hinkley Point C units to deliver the infrastructure that will power the station and its operations, creating 1,000 jobs including many specialist engineers. Works include the design and installation of circa 76,000 cables totalling over 3,000km in length; over 180km of cable containment support systems; fire and environmental sealing; design and installation of earthing systems, and specialist packages associated with data acquisition and plant control.
